The material from which your processing equipment is designed can often be required by regulatory agencies across the board, depending on your overall product. In a sanitary application, though, those guidelines aren’t the only thing you should be considering. Instead, you should also look for a material that is easy to clean, and offers reliable sanitation practices to ensure you’re getting a decreased bacteria risk, as well as taking less time to sanitize equipment. This consideration has to include your static mixer, and it’s part of the reason we use 316 stainless steel in all of our sanitary static mixing products.
What is 316 Stainless Steel?
Sometimes called Marine Grade stainless steel, 316 was designed for those industrial processes that required a slightly higher resistance to corrosion. It’s austenitic, non-magnetic, and thermally nonhardenable. It can withstand a corrosive attack by many chemicals, including sulfite liquors and sulfurous acids. It’s also well known for its durability where strength is an absolute must.
Our Finish Process
All of our sanitary static mixers undergo an electropolishing process to help create a smooth, easy to clean surface. If you’re not familiar with the terminology, electropolishing is an electrochemical process. It removes surface materials from the 316 stainless steel to help give it a smoothness other process just don’t. The components are lowered into a temperature controlled environment filled with concentrated sulfuric and phosphoric acid solutions that are charged using a DC power supply. The result is a finish with a mirror appearance.
You simply cannot afford to consider any other static mixer than Komax’s full line of sanitary mixers. We can customize one to meet the needs of your factory, whether you’re working with materials like tomato paste and mayonnaise or soft drinks and fruit juices. To learn more, contact us today.
