Building the perfect static mixer for companies of all shapes and sizes is at the heart of what we do because for many different industries, creating the perfect mix, industrially speaking, is more important now than ever before. Whether the elements go together easily, such as baking ingredients in a cake mix, or they are more difficult to mix, such like the viscous ingredients that create many plastics, we have the right equipment available now. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of static mixers, though, this brief overview might help.
Construction of a Static Mixer
Static mixers are designed to continuously blend fluids and materials inside a pipeline. They don’t have moving parts, as you might expect with the term mixer. Instead, they’re constructed with baffles, or mixing elements, which can be made with either plastics or metal. Inside every Komax static mixer, you’ll find two, three, or four mixing elements, depending on the customer’s direct needs. Both the baffles and the housing for any Komax static mixer are constructed from carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, PVC, and fiberglass to ensure higher quality options. Komax also builds a flow straightener into each mixer to ensure centrifugal effects don’t happen downstream. That’s a real advantage for our customers because it means sensing probes can be put directly downstream.
Uses
There are a huge amount of possibilities when it comes to using a static mixer. Many markets today call for using a static mixer including the oil and gas, plastics, food, and desalination industries. It is also very common for wastewater plants to use them in their processing of the chemicals needed to create clean water.
