A Klean Wall Heat Exchanger is usually operated to increase energy efficiency in process industries by up to 300 percent. Those heat exchangers that are energy inefficient lead to wasted energy more often than not, and which again translates into wasted capital.
The Klean Wall Heat Exchanger uses high-quality and turbulent sludge to ensure that there is no buildup on the wall and that the pipe doesn’t clog. It processes debris that is half the pipe diameter in terms of width, ensuring that it isn’t too thick and may clog the pipe.
The principal function of heat exchangers is to transfer heat most efficiently. A Klean Wall Heat Exchanger has a distinct advantage over traditional tube, shell, and spiral heat exchangers in this regard as it increases energy efficiency by nearly 300 percent.
An efficient exchanger heats uses hot water to heat about sludge (200 gpm) at a temperature range of 50 – 60.5 degrees Fahrenheit to deliver a recirculation of 1.05 Million Btu/hr. Since these exchangers also eliminate wall buildup, it leads to fewer breakdowns and maintenance, thus reducing valuable man hours also.
A state-of-the-art Klean Wall Heat Exchanger utilizes Hi-Pass static mixing elements that provide wall-to-wall radial transfers, eliminating corners that may trap fibrous materials or solids.
Research shows that the Klean Wall Heat Exchanger reduces retention time by half. The sludge turbulence gets increased and the velocity gradient of the boundary wall gets eliminated. Moreover, with the sludge constantly scavenging the wall surface, chances of the heat exchanger fouling are also greatly reduced.
Such exchangers are designed to allow large-sized debris to pass through without plugging. Moreover, these have improved digesting and enhanced bacteriological abilities because the sludge gets sheared and mixed. Since they eliminate sludge buildup on the wall, their efficiency does not reduce over time.
In addition, these hardly require any cleaning and thus, reduce maintenance costs to improve the financial bottom lines of the companies that use them.
However, should preventive cleaning be required, their Hi-Pass design makes a clear passage down the tube side’s centerline to allow hydro-rod cleanout. The digester performance is also greatly improved as the sludge gets broken up and mixed. These are also available in multiple piping configurations for easier retro fitting.
