It’s not rare for companies blending thicker solutions to have trouble with their mixing process. After all, it takes far greater energy to achieve that level of mixing as well as fantastic equipment. At Komax, we’ve met this challenge before. Take a look at one company we were able to help.
Citrus World, one of the largest fruit companies in Florida, had a serious issue on their hands. They were having a extremely hard time blending tomato paste, which is extremely thick and viscous, with water. Multiple possible solutions were tried, including various mechanical options, labor-intensive options and more. Nothing seemed to effectively work. In the areas that were able to create a successful blend, the consistency from batch to batch was not there.
When we arrived, we immediately installed our Triple Action Inline Static Mixer, measuring 3in diameter by 42in in length. It fit seamlessly into a holding tank that holds the original tomato paste, pumps and water lines that feed into mixer, with a line that goes to blend tanks that hold the final product.
The results were phenomenal. Citrus World was able to create add an extra “layer” to their company, creating a strong market for tomato juice that is now competing with their extreme success in the orange juice industry. Company executives had no shame in admitting that without the in-line mixer, there is simply no way they could have continued with the tomato juice processing, as the paste would have continued to provide problems. This success was able to prove what many have been thinking: just how valuable our modern mixing solutions can be.
