Sure, our static mixers can be extremely effective, mix super well, and really work to combine a product with an additive. We also know that there is such a thing as overkill, and that mixing smartly requires tact. Our Custody Transfer Mixer is unique in that it looks to mix bottom sediment and water into crude oil so that measurements can be taken, but also to avoid over mixing or even emulsifying.
Site specific mixing means our Custody Transfer Mixer creates a certain environment for testing, but does not create a new, permanently mixed solution. Custody transfer accuracy is extremely important and any discrepancies can mean millions of dollars lost. Our mixer serves to create a temporary environment that can be measured very exactly, this happens in two combined ways:
1-Mixing bottom sediment and water into the crude oil in a way that lets pipe contents be measured accurately. Our mixer produces a very uniform droplet size and distribution of water within the crude oil so percentages of each can be measured.
2-We add a specialized straightening fin 2-4 pipe diameters after the mixer in order to avoid downstream flow vibrations or anomalies of any kind. A uniform and undisturbed flow is another very important aspect of custody transfer measurement.
All of our static mixers are unique in that they perform their duty in a compact space and without the need for extensive downstream pipe lay. What is very special about our Custody Transfer Mixer is that it creates this environment only for the temporary need of supremely accurate measurements, but without any long-term effects from over mixing. We designed this mixer to provide a much-needed service, accuracy, but also to work in such a way that it would not hinder the overall production and refinement of crude oil.
