When a chef is asked to provide his signature piece, you often get the dish he’s been creating and recreating over the years to reach a measure of perfection. At Komax, we have a signature dish too, though in this case, it’s a product instead of a dish. It’s our Triple Action Static Mixer, and it’s made the brand Komax synonymous with mixing power all over the globe.
A Look Inside
Our static mixer is made from a variety of materials, depending on how you plan to use it. You can select one made from carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, PVC or fiberglass. The more demanding the usage, the better the level of products we’ll include. The configuration can be customized to meet your needs, and we can include any ports, end fittings, or elements you happen to need to help optimize whatever you may be mixing.
The Unique Process
Part of the reason this mixer has such a good reputation is that it doesn’t work like other static mixers do. Instead, it utilizes three different kinds of mixing to create the perfect output with every batch. Two by two division is one type. The mixer divides and redivides the process stream with elements that are set at right angles from each other. Each one of those elements doubles the previous number of divisions, so with twenty elements, you get more than a million divisions and re-combinations.
Cross current mixing is also involved. Inside the mixer are special cavities that help to randomize the distribution thanks to direct stream impingement. That adds to the two by two division process, making it just a little more effective.
Back mixing is the final type of mixing involved. When turbulent flow happens, the elements inside create elliptical vortices, which rotate in opposite directions. Backmixing occurs because the material is pushed from the front to the back before ever continuing on its journey.
