The EPA has long been working to finalize their Control Techniques Guidelines to help reduce emissions, and it was recently able to do just that. The new guidelines are considered to be voluntary at this point, but that’s far from the truth in many states. For many companies, that could demand better equipment, particularly at the point of custody transfer. The Komax Custody Transfer Mixer is the ideal new piece ready to help you optimize your entire operation.
Our custody transfer mixer is installed upstream from your oil sampling transfer line. This helps to ensure bottom sediment and water is completely dispersed through the stream. Even water droplet sized and distribution occur over a huge pipe flow range, no matter what the size may be. The features are amazing, too. It can be installed in either a horizontal or a vertical pipeline. In a horizontal situation, the mixing element is initially set off 30 degrees, which means the bottom mixing element acts a ramp, which forces the water into the crude. Thanks to internal vortices, a portion of the flow back is pushed upstream, which helps to minimize any spikes. The combination helps to maximize accuracy.
Perhaps the best feature, though, is the exit fin which helps to cancel rotation of the flow, ensuring that all violent rotation ends. With an automatic sampler two to four pipe lengths downstream, you get highly reliable results every time.
