We’ve mentioned the growth of LNG previously on this blog, and a quick look at the headlines will tell almost anyone that LNG growth isn’t slowing in the near future. Easily transported, it’s the one energy source that may fuel both existing markets like the US and budding markets overseas simultaneously.
Recently, analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance predicted 2017 to be the year when North American exports of LNG surge by more than 250%, but US companies are hardly the only ones working within this industry. Australian projects are about to hit the market as well, as they’ve been in development for several years now. Just 10 months ago, Gorgon LNG shipped its first cargo, and soon they’ll be hitting 6 percent of last year’s entire LNG demand for the planet on their own.
Part of what’s pushing this trend is the need for electricity in developing nations like Chile and South Africa. Because LNG is so easily transportable, companies tend to be more flexible here than in any other industry. Additionally, LNG is far more efficient than other forms, and with many governments focused on cleaner energy choices, it may be the ideal option in the years to come.
At Komax, we’ve been working with LNG companies for decades. Our desuperheater is just one technology we have to offer this market as it grows. We’ll continue to develop the tools necessary to help spur market growth in the future. Contact us today to learn more about the Komax connection.
