Liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants are on the rise because they’re an efficient and clean source of energy. As a result of that, though, the need for efficient, well-made steam or gas desuperheaters for use in LNG plants is absolutely essential, and finding desuperheaters that can meet the challenges and needs LNG plants have is a must.
Our desuperheater meets that challenge head on, but what makes it so different?
It is far more effective than other more conventional models, and one of the things that makes it so efficient is that it has integrated the Equalizer™ mixing module. The Equalizer™ has a low pressured injection spray nozzle that’s carefully positioned so that it goes upstream. When the steam flows down, a cone of water is formed which reverses the direction of the stream and forces it downstream through the Equalizer™ module. This reduces the superheated steam to the proper temperature almost immediately and cooling happens instantaneously.
Another aspect that makes the Komax LNG desuperheater better than the rest is that since it has no moveable parts, it requires very little maintenance, low vibration and makes almost no noise. Lastly, since cooling happens almost instantaneously as it leaves the module, it doesn’t need the long pipe length required by more conventional models. So the Komax LNG desuperheater needs less space, delivers extremely accurate temperature control and reduces or eliminates thermal cycling fatigue in a plant’s piping which means improved safety and less wear and maintenance.
