Static mixers are ideal for many polymer distribution needs, but what about products that are extremely heavy and prone to clogging? These high-density mixtures need rounded mixing edges as well as minimal pressure drop during mixing in order to eliminate clogging. Komax’s Hi-Pass Sludge Mixers handle with ease these intense, high profile mixtures and sludge. The design is perfect for heavy, often heterogeneous mixtures that require mixing and polymer distribution prior to the dewatering process because of these two factors:
Mixing Elements: Like other Komax static mixers, the Hi-Pass Sludge Mixer incorporates fixed projections within the pipe in order to redirect flow in a mixing manner. This unit utilizes mixing element placement to create gentle angles that are resistant to build-up, even for solid and fibrous materials. This design also allows for a self-cleaning environment with the reversal of flow, effectively making maintenance a thing of the past. The placement of the mixing elements mixes sludge with extreme effectiveness and even allows for solid material up to ½ the diameter of the pipe to flow through uninterrupted.
Engineered Injector: This unit is not only for mixing up the contents of the pipe, but also introducing polymers into the flow for uniform distribution. The teamwork between the mixer and injector will lead to maximum efficiency and even promote a smaller amount of needed polymer for the desired effect, up to %25 less. This efficient addition and mixing will mean that with a production ending in dewatering and cake formation, the less added polymer will produce dryer cake solids.
With designing the most cost efficient and effective system, there don’t have to be any compromises. Komax’s Hi-Pass mixer performs just as well as their other mixers and leads to reduced cost from flow interruption, polymer addition, and a better overall product.
