Many of our sanitary static mixers end up as part of today’s diverse food industry. From yogurt manufacturers to condiment giants to beverage companies, we’ve worked with nearly every piece of the industry, and we intend to continue doing so in the near future. Our static mixers are a key component in reducing energy consumption and costs in food production facilities around the world, and as the number of those production facilities grows, so too does the need for our equipment. But is the food industry actually increasing production? What is changing about the world to make food industry numbers so different these days? In a word – Millennials.
Study after study has shown that millennials are the hungriest generation ever. In today’s society, they continually outspend every other generation when it comes to food, either in restaurants or at home. In fact, they’re spending more than $96 billion a year on food. Wonder what they’re buying? Almost everything. They’re interested in taste like never before. While they’re up to try almost anything in the world of global tastes, their key drivers are unprocessed, local, fresh foods. They’re looking for buzz words like cage-free or grass-fed in all of their food purchases. They want healthier options, and most are willing to pay for it. One survey suggested that while pizza and burgers still top the list of their faves, barbeque, chicken, and breakfast food have a hold on them too. They’re primarily looking for new or unique foods and flavors.
What You Can Do Now
If you’re looking to appeal to this generation, there are a number of things you can do. Start with the right talent. Don’t be afraid to get creative. What has worked in the past in the food industry isn’t certain to work now, so be willing to try new things because Millennials are. Consider your environmental impact, and offer as much information as possible to every product your factory produces. Do that, and you’re going to make your next line a huge success with this hungry group of people.
