Steam generation – it’s an essential aspect of many industrial processes. As a result, superheat is a must, but while it can prevent the cooling and condensing of steam, it also means desuperheat is required too. The Komax Desuperheater is the perfect way to remove the superheat thanks to its advanced technology.
One of the most innovative aspects of the Komax desuperheater is our Equalizer mixing module. It uses a lower pressure spray nozzle than many others, and we’ve directed that upstream. That cone helps to reverse direction, forcing the steam to pass downstream. The two (steam and water) are quickly combined, helping to reduce the superheat effectively.
In addition to the unique spray nozzle, the desuperheater has six fixed mixing elements. When the steam enters it, it is automatically combined with the cooling product, which is divided and mixed in each of the six zones. This creates a three stage mixing process that means cooling happens almost instantly.
Fortunately, the entire process takes place in a small amount of space, so you can eliminate any downstream pipe lay you thought you needed. Add that to the fact that you get more accurate temperature control and an absence of thermal cycling fatigue, and you have an equation your company can count on again and again.
