Efficient desuperheating is a must in many industries, and many companies rely on the Komax desuperheater to handle this task. Wondering what makes it so powerful? Take a look.
Understanding the Need for Desuperheat
For centuries, steam has been used to move heat from the boiler to its usage point. At some point, though, temperature reduction is a must for a number of different reasons. It’s possible that the piping system and its components have to be protected from excessive temperatures. It’s also possible that the temperature needs to be controlled to enhance the manufacturing process itself. No matter why that temperature control becomes a must, a Komax Desuperheater is an absolute must.
The Equalizer
The Komax Desuperheater includes the Komax Equalizer mixing module, which uses a water injection spray that is fairly low pressure. The steam hits that water spray and creates a cone of water. The cone reverses the direction of things, then passes downstream through the Equalizer. That forces the steam and water to combine, and reduces the superheat. The Equalizer includes six fixed mixing elements, which helps to divide the steam and the cooling product into separate cavities and creates multiple impingement mixing zones. The result is pure efficiency.
