Ketchup Manufacturer Replaces Stirred Tanks with Static Mixer
Food & Beverages Case Study
Over twenty years ago Hunt Wesson (ConAgra) installed the Komax static mixers in all of their plants in North America. The first Komax installation was in Hunt Wesson’s Southern California plant. One 4 inch diameter Komax Ketchup mixing system out produced fifteen 5000 lb stirred tanks that were used for their daily production. Two months after installation Komax added a short flanged tube section with threaded side ports for spice input. This spice injection section was flanged to the output end of the front input tee. Over $50,000 a year in spice evaporation from the open stirred tanks was eliminated. This single totally enclosed inline static mixing system eliminated the need for the fifteen open stirred tanks. Energy saving was over 95%.
