Desuperheaters, sometimes called attemporators, are made so you can reduce the temperature of superheated steam. The problem, though, is that conventional desuperheaters don’t work in many settings. Komax, though, employs very different technology. We’ve added our patented Equalizer mixing module to effectively combine steam and water with each other to reduce the superheat to the right value required for your mixture. This mixing module uses a low pressure water injection spray nozzle directed upstream, creating a cone of water. The flow of steam forces the cone of water to reverse directions, thus passing downstream through the mixing module.
The mixing module itself includes six fixed mixing elements, so once the steam is combined with your cooling product, it is divided and mixed by the elements located in six compartments. At exit, you get multiple impingement mixing zones, finishing up a three-stage contact process no one else can match as well as instant cooling.
